If you’ve a long journey ahead of you – whether by train, plane or car – you might be concerned about the risk of DVT (deep vein thrombosis). These blood clots tend to occur in the lower leg and are a result of restricted movement over a period of time. It’s important to keep mobile during any long journey in order to keep the blood flowing and stay hydrated. For those with a history of DVT, are pregnant, suffering from heart disease or currently overweight (among others) there is an elevated risk; and in such circumstances flight socks can provide an extra preventative method on journeys of three or more hours. We would always recommend speaking to your GP to see what the medical recommendation is for your personal circumstances.
